In the last 5 years roughly, certain segments of the cybersecurity industry have been brandishing the notion that there is a massive skills shortage. In our experience through working with clients, we often found that to be a complex claim and not entirely accurate. The key observation for us was that companies were often focused on specific technical skills pertaining to specific products or simply looking at the wrong attributes and experience-level when hiring for more senior roles.
