It is reported that a cyber attack took place against the financial software company Ion Group during late January 2023. The attack was carried out by the Lockbit ransomware syndicate.
According to media reports, the Ion Group operations have been disrupted and led to a temporary halt of some of its services. The attackers demanded a ransom payment in exchange for restoring access to the encrypted data.
Media reports have hinted that Ion Group probably has succumbed to paying the ransom in order restore its operations. A claim which is allegedly reinforced by the attackers themselves.
